Counselor's Corner

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

As always, the beginning of a new year is full of great anticipation and excitement. We have been preparing the school and classrooms to be welcoming environments of academic, social and vocational development. All Edison staff will work to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential and reach personal goals. It's important to remember that in order to be successful, our students need support from both home and school. Having a strong partnership with everyone involved in a student's life can make a great difference in a student's education.

For new and returning parents or guardians, know that during this year, we may call upon you to participate in meetings, serve on committees or just have a voice and say in how our partnership can grow. As partners, Edison staff share the responsibility for student success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your students learning by ensuring that they:

  • Attend school daily and arrive on time, ready for the day's learning experience.
  • Share school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.
  • Utilize their Edison planner and Edison connect to stay current on grades and assignments.
  • Know that you expect him/her to succeed in school and become a successful citizen who is prepared for college and career.
  • Demonstrate respect toward peers, teachers, and staff and self.
  • Work hard to self-advocate, plan and achieve.

The adolescent years can be challenging, but it is also a prime time for mastering skills and creating a tool box to carry later in life. After eight years of working at Edison, I am still in wonder at the maturation of Edison students in a brief 4 years. I'm looking forward to partnering with the Edison community to ensure student success during this 2019-2020 school year.
